Antique hand-carved Hispano-Filipino urna

With amazing patina, the urna (small shrines made for homes during the colonial period), from the Ilocos region of the Philippines, which includes the Spanish Colonial UNESCO World Heritage City, Vigan. The intricate wood carving is a fusion of Spanish, Latin American, Chinese, and Filipino aesthetics. The urna, a miniature (both in the Baroque and Rococo style) housing for santos made up of molave (tree) slices pegged together by mortise.
